AVK Innovation Award for the asc(s

Oct. 6, 2014
The asc(s and its project partners were awarded the bronze medal of the AVK Innovation Award. The prestigious AVK Innovation Award has been awarded by the AVK (Industrievereinigung Verstärkte Kunststoffe e.V. – reinforced plastics industrial association) for outstanding innovations within the composite industry since 1995.

The aim of the Innovation Award is the promotion of new products/components and applications made of fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP), as well as the promotion of new procedures and processes for the manufacturing of these FRP products.

The asc(s has received the award together with its project partners (the Fraunhofer Institutes ICT, IPM and EMI, the IFB Uni Stuttgart, the FAST Karlsruher Institut für Technologie and Porsche) for their work on the "Transferprojekt Porsche" of the Technologiecluster Composites Baden-Württemberg (TC²).

Within the scope of this work the braiding technique for CFRP compounds was examined and new design options shown. The asc(s in particular dealt with material modeling and simulation and carried out the preparation, calibration and valuation of different material models for different braiding angles (tension, compression, shear, ILSS, flexure, crushing, ...). Alexander F. Walser accepted the award on behalf of the asc(s. The work at the asc(s was carried out by Michal Vašíček.
