simpulseday Isogeometric Analysis - Bringing Together Design and Calculation

April 21, 2017
The automotive CAE Grand Challenge stimulates the dialog between users, scientists and software developers in order to solve challenges which prevent a “100% digital prototyping”.

The challenges for 2017 were determined through a web-based survey among the CAE experts of the international automotive industry in September 2016. The Automotive Simulation Center Stuttgart was the joint organizer of the SpecialSession “Isogeometric Analysis” which focused the potential of closing the methodological gap between Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) in automotive applications.

The speeches from Prof. Dr.-Ing. Kai-Uwe Bletzinger (Technical University of Munich), Dr. Benjamin Himpel (TWT GmbH) and Dr.-Ing. Stefan Hartmann (Dynamore GmbH) gave a state-of-the-art overview and showed upcoming approaches. The participants were able to directly bring in the findings of the speeches and define barriers and chances of isogeometric analysis in the following interactive session. The results of the workshop will prepare the ground for future projects in order to tackle the challenges of isogeometric analysis.
